iOS 7 makes setting up Gmail on iPad extremely easy. To setup Gmail on iPad which is running on the latest iOS 7, you will find your iPad automatically fills up most information for you. You do not have to manually type in Gmail information such as IMAP, POP, or SMTP. It is very intuitive and fast to add Gmail to iPad.

Steps to Setup Gmail on iPad
Open Settings app on iPad, you will find the navigation menu on the left. Scroll down to find the Mail, Contacts, Calendars, see below screencapture.
Tap on Mail, Contacts, Calendars from above menu, you will open the Mail, Contacts, Calendars settings page on the right. Your existing email accounts will be displayed under the Accounts section.
Tap on Add Account, you will be taken to a screen like below.
Above screen shows the available email services you can choose from, like iCloud, Microsoft Exchange, Gmail, Yahoo mail, AOL mail, Outlook.com emails (Live mail, Hotmail, see how to setup Hotmail on iPad iOS 7) and other email services that support IMAP or POP mail protocols. In this case, choose Google from the email type list since we are going to add Gmail to iPad in this tutorial. Now you have the chance to type in your Gmail account info including your name, Gmail username, Gmail password and description of your Gmail account. Name and description can be anything you like. In the email field, you have to use your full Gmail address including the ‘@gmail.com’ at the end of the email address. Password is your Gmail account password you use to log on Gmail from web browsers. See screenshot as below.
Once you filled all the required info as required above, tap on the Next button on the top right corner. You will then see a screen like following.
Now you will see options to import or sync your mail, contacts, calendars and notes from Gmail account server to your iPad. By default Contacts is disabled. The other three, email, calendars, notes, are selected. If you like to Sync Gmail contacts to iPad as well, slide to enable it, you will then see a prompt like this:
Before adding Gmail contacts to iPad, you will see a prompt like above figure. You need to choose how you like to do with existing local contacts on iPad. What would you like to do with existing local contacts on your iPad? To keep on iPad or delete them? If you are not sure, just select ‘Keep on My iPad’. After that, tap on Save button on the top right corner and you are done!
