Upgrade and Back up WordPress sites via Softaculous
Upgrade WordPress is very easy. You can simply log on WordPress dashboard as administrator, then go to Dashboard >> Updates to upgrade WordPress. Normally this will not cause any problems. Back up WordPress via Softaculous
Return to the Application Installs overview page in Softaculous. Find the WordPress site you like to back up and click on the Backup button, you will be taken to the Backing Up WordPress page like below.
At the upper section of this page, you can select backup operations. For example, you can choose to back up the entire folder of WordPress site, you can back up WordPress database, or choose both Backup Directory and Backup Database to create a full backup of WordPress. Other than that, you can also create a Backup Note. This could be very helpful sometimes. In this demo, we saved a note “back up before upgrading WP from 4.5 to 4.5.3”. So if you like to restore WordPress to an earlier version, you can quickly find out which backup was created on certain WordPress version. If you plan to perform dramatic change on the site, you can also create a backup note for your reference in the future so in case of any site error or failure you can restore the site back to its status before the change.
