Dramatic Decrease in Google PageViews

WP Google Analytics Events is a Google analytics and events tracking plugin for WordPress. You can easily track events with Google Analytics. This WordPress plugin allows you to send events to Google Analytics for: 1. A user scrolls to a point of interest on your site 2. Clicking elements on the page, such as a PDF download, software download, Video play button or an Ajax submit form. Basically it helps you better know what your visitors are doing on the website.

The plugin begin to support the new Universal Tracking code by Google in the latest plugin. I want to get this feature. Thus I upgraded the plugin from WordPRess dashboard. However when I check back my Google Analytics to see how my websites and traffic are doing, I noticed the damatic decrease in Pageviews. The unique page views or sessions remain as usually. Finally I realized it was caused by a misconfiguration in this Google Analytics events tracking plugin for WordPress.

If you have enabled Google Analytics using WP Google Analytics Events plugin for your WordPress site, make sure do not add duplicate Analytics tracking code to the same site using other tools or methods, otherwise you will duplicate your page views in Google analytics and reports.
